Radar Algorithms and Processing (334D)
The Radar Algorithms and Processing group develops advanced processing algorithms and data processing systems for a variety of radar instruments including:
- Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), including interferometric/polarimetric SAR
- Scatterometers
- Radiometers
- Radar sounders
- Altimeters
The group develops instrument simulations for performance analysis and processor development and participates in science analysis and supports science investigations using radar systems. The group also investigates and promotes methods to improve the development of algorithms, processors, and data utilization.
Flight Projects that the Radar Algorithms and Processing group is currently supporting include:
Studies and developments that the Radar Algorithms and Processing group is currently supporting include:
- GISMO (airborne sounder for ice studies)
- DESDynI (Deformation, Ecosystem Structure and Dynamics of Ice – interferometric SAR for Earth and ice monitoring with Lidar)
- SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography – an interferometric altimeter)
- XOVWM (Extended Ocean Vector Winds Mission – an advanced dual-frequency scatterometer to replace QuikSCAT)
- Lunar topography from Goldstone radar interferometer data
